The Wind in the Willows (First published 1908) British author Kenneth Grahame’s "The Wind in the Willows" focuses on four animals, mixing mysticism with adventure, morality and camaraderie. It is a much celebrated children’s book, ranking highly in the BBC’s “The Big Read” Survey. The story revolves around Spring and the good-natured Mole who loses patience with Spring cleaning and ends up at the river for the first time. He meets Rat and they take a ride in his rowing boat. The two become fast friends and Rat teaches Mole the ways of the river. Out boating during the Summer months, they pay a visit to Toad, a wealthy, kind-hearted friend obsessed with his horse-drawn caravan. The three embark on an adventurous trip before deciding to meet elusive Badger, who lives deep in the Wild Wood.

This is a hardbound copy of "Willows" that I bought as a gift for my granddaughter. I was given a copy of this book 50 years ago by my own father. The quality of the book's materials and printing is pretty good, except for one thing: the color plates with Arthur Rackham's illustrations are small, and grainier than I remember from the copy my Dad gave me, which would have been from an edition printed in the late 1950's. But I suppose that it is the best that can be hoped for in a hardcover book costing under $25 nowadays. But, despite the slightly fuzzy looking color illustrations, the story is immortal and it is those written words that are the heart of this book.Product details

The Wind in the Willows Kenneth Grahame 9781541180901 Books Reviews
Like seriously, WHERE HAS THIS BOOK BEEN MY WHOLE LIFE??!?! The cover is super awesome and soft and the book's content is superb and the wife and I love the pictures scattered throughout.
good book
The story is a wonderful classic of fantastical adventures of animals. The kindle version has a strange issue where all the text is gray, making it hard to read. (Same settings on paperwhite for both images.)
High quality book... kids love
Great edition, excellent illustrations.
Beaver College used some of Grahame's phrases in their advertising, which prompted me to read the book. Aside from being a sweet children's story, it has a 'fourth dimension.' After reading it, I found out that Grahame was a 'mystic.' You can feel a spirituality beyond the story.
