Wish Hollywood would make more movies like Love Actually and Notting Hill? Satisfy your craving for a chick lit comedy with this novel by Cinda Fernando.
The Triumphs and Travails of Talisman Turner, Book 1 in the Psych & the City series...where sweet romance, LOL humor, and pop psychology collide!
Talisman Turner has just been dumped. It's not her. It's not the guy.
It's the Red Sox.*
Tali's ex-boyfriend believes sacrificing their relationship will reverse the curse plaguing his beloved baseball team. Tali's determined to reverse a curse too--the one haunting her pathetic love life.
And she's betting on the psychological theories on attraction and relationships, which she studied in college, to do it.
But falling in love is not a science...
* Despite the baseball references, this novel is part of a romantic comedy series, not a sports saga.
In a physical bookstore...
...this novel would be shelved in the same section as Sophie Kinsella, Jill Mansell, and other classic women's fiction romance authors. Like those works, while the hero of this romantic comedy series is super-sexy, the novel itself is sweet, not steamy.

The Triumphs and Travails of Talisman Turner A Romantic Comedy Novel Psych the City Book 1 eBook Cinda Fernando
This is chick lit of a kind that anyone who reads Jill Mansell will be familiar with. It's written in the first person and recounts the humorous travails of a quirky 20-something woman as she tries to define a career and love life for herself, alla Sex and the City. It's amusing in lots of places, but the main plot device is how desperate the narrator is for a boyfriend. Perhaps that resonates with some people, but I was never a fan of Sex and the City, and I found Tali's obsession with a guy over anything else in her life pathetic and ultimately rather boring. If the book had been much shorter, and the other characters had been more fleshed out, perhaps I wouldn't have gotten so tired of it.Product details

The Triumphs and Travails of Talisman Turner A Romantic Comedy Novel Psych the City Book 1 eBook Cinda Fernando Reviews
a well written and entertaining light read and by no means too long! the character of talisman is quirky and endearing but with a bit of hidden depth and the story swings along nicely . worth paying for.
Interested in a light-hearted comedy written in a romantic, modern twist of Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility? Then the adventures Talisman Turner goes through is for you. Filled with quirky humor, this book is bound to bring you hours of enjoyment. There is a lovestruck heroine, a sports fanatic ex-boyfriend, a dashing Englishman, several crazy bestfriends, a plot to takeover American pharmaceuticals, and lots of fashon. Enjoy the read.
Fantastic read!! Cool characters, great plot and storyline all wrapped up into a light-hearted romance. Adored the main characters name....Talisman (very creative). All I can is....if you are a fan of the romance queen, Jane Austen, then you will definitely enjoy this. And who doesn't love a story with a British fellow in it. Thank you Cinda for the great story and I look forward to more of your work.
I loved this book. If you like british chick lit authors like Marian Keyes, Helen Fielding, and Jill Mansell, you will reallly enjoy this book.
It was laugh out loud funny (and that doesn't happen to me all the time), and Talisman was completely loveable. She was funny, and so completely endearing. The other characters were also great - Doug the crazy Bosox fan (maybe that is redundant), sexy Graham, Jem and Ris. All added nicely to the story.
There are alot of references to Psychology - studies, experiments and theories. I loved it all - I loved psych in college, and totally enjoyed all those bits. There are 2 really great scenes in elevators - at the beginning and again later in the book.
I can't wait to read another book with Talisman, she is just awesome.
Could not make it more than 1/5 of the way through before I deleted it from the kindle. Wicked bummah as we say in Boston
